Also included is a fold out facsimile of wood-cut plan of Antwerp as it appeared in Ludovico Guicciardini’s Descrittione di tutti i Paesi Bassi published at Antwerp by William Silvius in 1567. In 1580 Plantin offered to buy the wood blocks so that he could print a revised edition of this first Lowlands ‘Baedeker’ and three years later actually secured them from the widow of Silvius.
